Some frequently asked questions: CAN I STILL INSTALL VERTICAL AND OLD HORIZONTAL MAILBOXES TO CUSTOMERS IF THEY NEED A USPS APPROVED MAILBOX? YES! If customers are replacing existing mailboxes, they are "grandfathered" into the system. The old mailboxes may be replaced with similar mailboxes on a one-for-one basis. The new vertical or horizontal mailboxes being installed must be STD-4B+ USPS Approved. Auth-Florence 1250 Series Verticals and Florence 1400 Series Horizontals are all 4B+ Approved for replacement purposes. WHAT DOES "MAJOR RENOVATION" MEAN? HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TO RECOMMEND? A "major renovation" would occur anytime the condition of the wall would be modified where the existing wall-mounted mailboxes are installed presently. If the cavity of the wall is altered where the mailboxes can’t be reinstalled on a one-for-one basis, the renovation would be considered "major" and mailboxes complying with the new USPS 4C regulation should be installed.
